School Value for March - Compassion

Attendance

Punctuality

Punctuality is monitored.  It is important for children to develop “good habits”.  Children who arrive after 8.45am in Reception and Years 1 & 2 will be marked Late.

Children who arrive late after 9.00am will be issued an unauthorised late mark. Children who receive 4 or more (unauthorised lates) in a 6 week period will also be issued with a fixed-penalty Notice. (Anti-social Behaviour Act 2004).  This will be charged per parent, per child.

Leave of Absence

Applications for Leave of Absence during Term Time WILL NOT be authorised unless in exceptional circumstances. If you take your child on leave without authorisation the Local Education Authority has the power to issue a fixed-penalty Notice. (Anti-social Behaviour Act 2004).  This will be charged per parent, per child. Leave taken before or after a school holiday will automatically be issued with a fine unless medical evidence is produced.

APPOINTMENTS - THINK FIRST!!

  • Always make routine appointments outside school times wherever possible.
  • Take the minimum amount of time. (Come to school before and after an appointment)
  • Leave other siblings at school.
  • Bring hospital letters or GP/Dentist appointment cards in when reporting an absence or lateness.

Something to think about .....

When your child is 5 minutes late for school

TODAY - they miss 5 minutes learning

THIS WEEK – they miss 25 minutes learning

THIS HALF TERM – they miss 2 hours and 40 minutes learning

THIS YEAR – they miss 3 days and 1 hour of learning

BY THE END OF THE 2nd YEAR – they now miss 9 days and 3 hours of learning

IN THEIR SCHOOL LIFE – they miss 38 days (7 weeks & 3 days) and 2 hours of learning

BUT they were only 5 minutes late!
